Amazon came to Aura seeking a solution that delivered up-to-date, accurate baseline data for its Fresh packaging portfolio.

With a vast supply base to manage, this solution needed to work across multiple territories and provide its grocery service with the ability to measure packaging progress against various commitments and targets.

Core areas of focus included:

  • Compliance across multiple markets, including recyclability and end-of-life labeling
  • Upcoming Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation
  • Growing fees
  • The complexities of supply chain transparency

Solution.

As part of our process, Aura scoped out Amazon’s business targets, sustainability commitments and legislative requirements. We then developed a plan for implementation before managing the project end-to-end. 

Through our Supplier Success Management and Data Assurance teams, we provided a programme of support to facilitate packaging data capture and data migration into e-halo, our flexible technology platform.

This saw us verify and migrate data for over 6,000 individual primary, secondary and tertiary components for Amazon Fresh. As a result, we collated in excess of 1,000 products together to form one central source of information and insight for the business.

With accurate baseline data in place, our e-halo technology automatically analyzed over 10.3 quintillion possible combinations of packaging specification to calculate the recyclability of packaging and highlight any ‘banned’ or ‘at risk’ substrates.
