Challenge.

Packaging legislation, such as guidance on materials or labeling requirements, can differ from one territory to the next. It also changes over time.

This requires up-to-date research and the necessary innovations to ensure compliance in the future.

However, for many businesses that export worldwide, it can make packaging management extremely challenging.

To gain a deeper understanding of its current and future legislative obligations, global manufacturing business Twinings appointed the Aura team to deliver expert packaging consultancy through our insights: regulatory service.

Solution.

Using our experienced team, Aura conducted an audit of all Twinings’ export markets.

These markets were then segmented and prioritized according to the task at hand to highlight the legislation that existed in each area, this included:

  • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)
  • Substrate restrictions
  • Fee mitigation
  • On-pack labeling

Having outlined the current compliance requirements, we then explored the changing packaging landscape to ensure Twinings could plan for future obligations. This work involved:

  • Benchmarking recommendations on legislative requirements globally
  • Researching non-governmental organizations (NGOs), retailer strategies and completing a competitor analysis

Benefit.

Working together with Twinings, we’ve created a strategic packaging road map for the business to implement immediately, whilst also highlighting future obligations.

As a result, the business has the ability to:

Progress with a road map that ensures compliance for 2025 through to 2030

Deliver compliant new product development (NPD)

Budget with future obligations in mind

Impact.

By 2025 Twinings will be compliant against all obligations and have the NPD plans in place to ensure compliance through to 2030 across all 130 countries where their products are sold.
