Challenge.

To set packaging sustainability targets for its business, Whole Foods needed to collect accurate packaging data for more than 4000 private brand products.

However, without resources or the right systems to collect the correct data, and with hundreds of vendors to engage, this was a challenging task.

To ensure it achieved its objectives, Whole Foods enlisted the help of Aura’s pioneering e-halo program.

Solution.

Whole Foods invested in e-halo to capture granular-level packaging data.

With more than 30 data fields per component, the data collection was driven by Aura’s Supplier Success Team, experts in supplier management

The data collected in e-halo was delivered against Whole Foods’ specific short and long-term requirements.

Aura’s Data Assurance Team checked every component and Bill of Materials for completeness, in particular the accuracy of dimensions versus technical drawings and certification compliance.

With e-halo’s unique capabilities, Whole Foods was able to accurately evaluate their packaging at a granular level.

The Whole Foods sustainability and packaging teams could swiftly evaluate the recycled content of their packaging. The recyclability of Bills of Materials was immediately evaluated for the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Benefit.

Aura and Whole Foods worked collaboratively to complete a successful data collection and assurance campaign with Whole Foods’ product vendors.

Through our work with Whole Foods, we delivered:

Accurate packaging data against Whole Foods’ required specifications.

Bespoke Power BI dashboards and reports enabling intuitive, real time evaluation of all packaging attributes, including recyclability, reusability, compostability and recycled content.

The ability for Whole Foods to set its packaging sustainability targets with an accurate baseline.

Impact.

Delivering an international data capture program for over 4000 SKUs and 28000 components to set Whole Foods on the path to success.
