Infectiously positive new arrival: Trevor Yong, Business Development Director

My passion has always been to make a positive difference to our environment through collaboration with businesses.

Impacting on industry, its supply chain, and packaging, is not linear. I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked for the two most successful UK organisations in their specific fields: Valpak and Biffa. Both have undoubtedly delivered tangible improvements in the fields of producer compliance and waste management solutions, but I think now is the perfect time to push further and help pioneer global change.

Ever increasing packaging waste regulations have forced organisations to take more responsibility for their environmental impact, yet some might argue that this is a retroactive influencer. Investing in the UK reprocessing infrastructure was necessary and extended producer responsibility (EPR) will undoubtedly drive this forward.

In tandem, more sustainable waste management solutions have led to higher recycling rates and circular economy advancements, despite the criticism that businesses only intervene in their operational practices and change how their waste is handled when it saves them money.
My ambition, shared with Aura, is to do much more; managing packaging sustainability every day is an exciting prospect.

As thought leaders, do we have to wait for government legislation to influence our actions?

Do we only make decisions if they deliver short-term commercial savings?

Packaging’s relationship with the environment is complex and I am eager to develop true ethical partnerships to educate and unite like-minded thinkers, and share our knowledge for the long-term gains.

And so, what has led me to this point to join the Aura Leadership Team?

The opportunity to apply two decades of learning, experience, and passion for positive change to our planet.

As Packaging Sustainability Pioneers, Aura provides the perfect opportunity for us to develop true partnerships with our clients, focused on the delivery of mutual goals whilst reducing the environmental impact of packaging globally. I am delighted to join a global business committed to being the reference point for sustainable packaging. My challenge to every business is quite simple:-

Do you want to do it better? If so, let’s talk.
