My Great Big Green Week – Collaboration, Composting and Communication.

Posted 12/06/2025 by Gaynor Denton-Bray

I’m patting myself on the back this week. From car share to composting, recycling to sharing insights with clients to improve packaging sustainability and being kinder to our planet, I’m fully immersed in the Big Green journey!

The week kicked off with a rounders tournament, sharing the purpose of the Great Big Green Week to get the team on board. Usually, the team members would make their own way but not this week. We arranged to meet at a central location and car-share. What would have normally been nine separate cars was reduced to just two, demonstrating how a bit of planning and teamwork can minimize carbon emissions. Not only did this eco-conscious choice benefit the environment and share the importance of considering the impact our decisions have on the planet, but it also fostered camaraderie among teammates, making the event even more enjoyable.

Following a busy and energetic day, down-time was then spent re-potting plants using home-produced compost from food scraps and grass cuttings, diverting food waste from landfill, reducing waste and saving money. While not everyone has the space to maintain a compost bin, those who do, should. The simplest of tasks can make quite the difference to the planet and the pocket – why purchase compost when it can be produced at home? Sustainable living can be both practical and rewarding.

At Aura, the momentum has continued in conversations with current, new and prospective clients and partners.

Sharing the Aura passion for sustainability spanning the entire packaging gamut, it is a privilege to collaborate and share insights and ideas with both like-minded packaging professionals and those operating on the periphery of packaging, supporting a more environmentally considered approach on a drive to improved sustainability. Whilst it is a complex subject with businesses at different points of their journey, with differing requirements and considerations from strategic decision making through to individual packaging projects to deliver innovation and improvement, there are many opportunities available to minimize our impact on the planet.

Sustainability is a way of life at Aura and we are dedicated to helping clients navigate their packaging sustainability journeys, minimising their impact on the planet. If you need help on your packaging journey, or if you aren’t sure and need a chat to understand your opportunities, get in touch.

Inaction is costly, but it’s free to talk!
