Our Green Journey: From Business Initiatives to Home Habits.

As Great Big Green Week 2025 is in full swing, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and pride. This isn’t just another event on the calendar—it’s a moment to pause and reflect on how far we’ve come, both professionally and personally, in our sustainability journey.

At Aura, we’re rolling up our sleeves to help our clients make sense of the ever-evolving world of packaging regulations such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), packaging taxes and prohibited materials & attributes. It’s not always straightforward, especially with each global market having distinct requirements and infrastructure, but that’s where our e-halo platform shines. It takes the complexity out of compliance and turns it into something actionable.

One of the most exciting things we’ve been working on lately is integrating e-halo with the How2Recycle Plus programme in the USA – a brilliant initiative that reduces speed-to-market for brands and retailers and brings localised recycling data to life for consumers. It’s all about giving consumers on the ground the right disposal information where and when they need it to dispose of their packaging correctly.

And speaking of disposal choices… let’s talk about my house.

I’ve become that person. The one who hovers over the recycling bin, holding up a juice carton and asking, “Are you sure that goes in there?” My husband has learned to brace himself for the inevitable “recycling audit” every time he tidies the kitchen. It’s all in good humour (mostly), but it matters. Because what we do at home reinforces what we stand for at work.

One of the themes of Great Big Green Week this year is what small swaps or changes you can make to overall make a big difference. At home, we are trying to dramatically reduce our food waste by making better meal plans and more creative use for leftovers. At work, we’re helping our clients use real-time packaging data to make informed choices to swap their packaging for more sustainable options and see opportunities—like reduction, substrate changes, recyclability, and the removal of problematic materials or attributes.

Great Big Green Week is a reminder that sustainability isn’t just a corporate goal—it’s a personal one too. It’s in the choices we make, the conversations we have, and the habits we build. I’m proud of the work we’re doing at Aura, proud of the clients we support and their sustainability goals, and proud of the small, persistent ways we’re all making a difference.

So let’s make this week count.

What small changes are you making at home or at work? Share your stories and let’s inspire each other to make a big difference together.
